William Wegman

Best known for his photographs, videos, and films of his Weimeraner dogs, William Wegman began his career as a painter and conceptual artist. A retrospective of his work began at the Kunstmuseum in Lucerne and traveled to museums throughout Europe and the United States including the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York. His more recent exhibitions include traveling retrospectives in Japan and Sweden.

In the works Shore Liner and Souvenir, Wegman placed vintage postcards of Florida on good rag paper, and used them as a starting point for a watercolor. Graphicstudio reproduced the vintage postcards, and they have been collaged onto lithographic renderings of the watercolors. These two works are infused with the memories of old Florida, and encompass Wegman’s skill as an artist of versatility.
